Patrick C. Walker, PhD, M.T.S., is the Chairman of the Board of the Education for Democracy Institute, the founder and senior author of Voices, and a senior author of the Literacy for Democracy Curriculum.
John Schall, M.A., is the Treasurer of the Education for Democracy Institute and owner and president of the Fire+Ice restaurant in Cambridge, MA. Previously, he was a lecturer in the U/Mass Boston Economics Department and the Yale University’s Graduate School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
Ken Tangvik, EdD, has been a Professor of Literature at Roxbury Community College for the past thirty years. He is the author of a collection of short urban fiction Don’t Mess with Tanya: Stories Emerging from Boston’s Barrios. Ken is also the co-founder of the Hyde Square Task Force, a Boston-based award-winning non-profit that engages teens in arts, college prep and community organizing.
Ernest Morrell, PhD, is the inaugural Macy Professor of English Education in the department of Arts and Humanities, and Director of the Institute for Urban and Minority Education (IUME) at Teachers College, Columbia University. Ernest is also the past-president of the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and a Class of 2014 Fellow of the American Educational Research Association (AERA).
